Hello everyone and welcome to the new DC3 and DC4 Forum. My name is Matt Fey. Jeff Morgenthaler and I will be monitoring this forum and chiming in when possible. We want this to be a place for you the client to converse with others that have or are looking at obtaining this technology. I currenly own a DC3 myself and have enough knowledge to be dangerous.  Please let us know if there is anything we can answer for you.  If not, please discuss freely.  ENJOY!

Matt,

I spoke with Jeff yesterday and he mentioned this topic.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm using a DC3. I'm anxious to get to the point where I'm dangerous with this terrific tool. Count me in to monitor the topic and confuse things with lots of questions.

Hey Matt, Jeff,

I'm not sure if anyone is still monitoring this forum, I have several questions about the Summa DC4.  I am currently using a Versacamm sp300, and i'm seriously thinking of switching to a Summa DC4.  Could someone let me know if you guys are still around?  Thanx,

Jason

Hey!

I'm thinking of getting a Summa DC4sx....

what do you all think of your DC4s? Are they good machines?
What's image quality like, both CMY and spots? Do spots have little
fine lines where the head prints meet?

Is the DC4 reliable? How about contour cutting? Is it deadly accurate?
Can you print and cut hundreds of small decals no problem?

I was thinking Versacamm 30", but I don't know if I want to muck around
with inkjets. Does DC4 output have more "crispness" than inkjet?

How often do printheads fail? How much do they cost to replace? Can you replace them yourself?

Thanks!

Hello PrintMe,

I work here at DAS and have sold several DC4 machines.  I have had a ton of feedback from existing clients.  In answer to your questions..

Fine lines occur when the printhead is damadged or not maintained.  If the printer is working properly then both cmyk and spots are dead on.

As a sales guy I love the DC4 and all Summa products, they are very reliable and known in the industry as work horses.  Thousands of small decals with perfect contour cutting are an everday task for the DC4.

I have never seen a printhead "fail" but they do begin to wear out after the machine has long paid for itself.  They are easy to change out yourself and cost about $1500.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi. Do you have any tips on getting the best possible prints on the DC4sx. What is the difference in the elipse, round, small elipse settings. How about double dot? Any info you can send is very much appreciated. Thanks
