This is difficult to explain. But I have a template that I make for teams that is simply an initial on the bottom in a College Block then @ an angle in Brush script in a different color I put the team name. Sometimes when I type in the text for the team name the initial on the bottom updates with the text on the top like they are linked together. I realize that this a capability in some of the templates with outline effects and such but I don't want this to happen because this is the way I have the design set up. Is there a way to unlink the two. Or am I doing something wrong. Thanks!

Well I partially figured this out. The problem happens when the initial is the same as the first letter of the text that is being typed on top. If I change the initial to a different letter than what the first letter of the team going across at an angle it doesn't happen. Go figure.

That's basically how the text works to keep drop shadows and compound text together is by searching for all text that matches a string.  In the Template itself make the letters different, then change one and then the other.
